A post on her official Facebook page confirmed that Glover, who worked closely with Prince in the 1980s, has died

Accomplished choreographer, dancer, and musician Catherine “Cat” Glover has died at the age of 60.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, news of her death was confirmed on her official Facebook page.

“It’s with great sadness that we formally announce the passing of Catherine Vernice Glover- AKA ‘Cat.’ Please allow her children, family and friends privacy at this difficult time. A further statement will be released in due course,” the post read.

The statement ended with a simple “Dance with the Angels, we love you” and heart emojis.

No cause of death was revealed.

The news was met with an outpouring of love from fans around the world. Glover’s son, Tony, commented, “Thank you all for your condolences. My mom loved all her fans. Now she’s resting in peace.”

Born in Chicago in 1964, Glover began dancing at the age of five with her sisters.

She initially found the spotlight alongside dance partner Patrick Allen as “Pat and Cat” on Star Search, where the duo was the first to receive a rare perfect score of four stars.

Glover is perhaps best known for her work with Prince. The pair initially met while she was dancing at the Dingbats Club in the North Side of Chicago but wouldn’t work together until a few years later after being invited to dinner at Prince’s house by Devin DeVasquez, per Chicago Crusader.

“Prince asked me to dance,” she recalled. “We started doing dance moves. I started following his steps. I began dancing by myself. I jumped on the table dancing….” The rest was history. Her Star Search appearance made her in-demand, and even David Bowie attempted to recruit her for his tour.

After disbanding The Revolution, Prince built a new team which included the striking dancer. Glover choreographed and played a major part in his 1987 Sign o’ the Times concert film and joined the legendary musician on the accompanying tour as well as his 1988 Lovesexy romp around the U.S. She even rapped on his 1988 hit “Alphabet Street.”

In a 2016 interview with The JSN Experience, Glover said that she was one of the few people placed on a retainer after Prince decided to shift his sound and work on other projects, but she ultimately decided to quit. “I had to make an important decision that was brought to my attention, and because of my values and the way my parents raised me, I took the other way and I just left.”

Following her time with Prince, Glover released one solo EP, Catwoman, in 1989. She continued her dance and choreography career up until her passing.
